A Legacy Gold Son!
"Gold's" bloodlines speak for themselves. His dad "Legacy Gold" sold for $500,000 (1/2 a million) at the most recent Snowmass Alpaca Auction in Phoenix. His grandfather, 4Peruvian Legacy, is THE highest selling alpaca EVER (as of this writing) ;^) selling for 3/4 of a million dollars for only 1/2 interest. Gold's full brother sold at last year's auction (as an unproven male) for $51,000. The list of Gold's 1/2 brother's (Legacy Gold's many sons) reads like the list of who's who in the alpaca champion show world.
But that's not why we bought him with Diane and Ed Catt of Straw Hat Alpacas! While he is an extraordinary male, Extremely Fine fleeced, typey and gorgeous - the bonus to us: he has a large splash of dark color on his right side, which includes black, dark brown and gray fibers. He has silver fibers and a small back spot on his neck as well. Legacy Gold's mom had a black dad who came from a silver dad, and I believe Gold's spots are indications that our Gold carries those exciting color genes.
Check Gold's 2007 histogram (click the icon above) - the highest frequency fiber diameter (the highest bar on the graph) on his histogram is 17 microns. His AFD is 20.7 at 4 years of age!
His first cria is here and Wow! What a fleece! Gold is getting lots of dates this Fall as a result of the excellence of his first baby boy - who looks just like daddy. See his listing by clicking the link below.
Gold will be here at Delphi for the majority of the year. Diane and Ed Catt are boarding with Fossil Ridge Alpacas, so check for Gold babies there as well.

Typey, Presence, Coverage, Attitude! Dino's got it and he knows it. Maybe Dino was named for the famous Ferrari, he has cast iron block legs, a light alloy fleece and produces more than enough RPM for the ladies. ;^)
He offers very good density, an extremely nice handle to his fleece, and bold crimp too. For a look at two of his kids - see her listing for Misti Fire. Also see Curious Carbo (SOLD), who sells due with a cria from Dino in the Spring. Curious also sells with a 1/2 priced rebreeding to any of our herd sires - including Avatar.
Dino has been spending his past few years awaiting the opening of the Canadian border. We are thrilled to finally have him home in Colorado, where he will be alternating visits between the Dolores area, and the Coaldale / Penrose area.
Dino won several top awards during his show career in Canada. Dino comes from two gray parents, and has produced exceptional offspring. One of his phenomenal daughters, Misti Fire, has already established herself a member of Delphi's "dream team" of keeper girls. Dino has bred Delphi's Gilda Gray, for what is bound to be a wonderful black or gray cria this Fall. We are pleased to present this new addition to Delphi's exceptional black and gray genetics, which we share with Shadow Ranch Alpacas of Dolores, Colorado; and Phantom Canyon Alpacas of Penrose, Colorado.
Dino's maternal brother, GNLC Maximus Paca, just brought home a blue from the 2006 Nationals - and his class included the 2006 Futurity Reserve Champion gray male (who placed second)! We are so excited to see Dino's crias this year.

In 2005, Avatar's offspring's show highlights include:
- Blue ribbon and Reserve Color Champion Gray Female at The Futurity
- Reserve Gray Color Champion Male at the Virginia Classic
- Blue ribbon and Reserve Color Champion Gray Male at The Futurity
- Blue ribbon and Color Champion Gray Female at the Level 5 Great Western Alpaca Show
- Blue ribbon and Color Champion Gray Female at the National AOBA Show.
Since that year his offspring have racked up a slew of championships and ribbons. We are working on a web site devoted to Avatar's Star babies - more soon on that!
Here are some of the fleece analysis results from Avatar's kid's one year old fleeces, here at Delphi:
19.3 AFD / 3.4 SD / 17.6 CV / 1.0% > 30 (Dev)
16.3 AFD / 2.6 SD / 16.1 CV / 0.7% > 30 (Lev)
17.0 AFD / 2.4 SD / 14.1 CV / 0.2% > 30 (Rav)
17.7 AFD / 2.3 SD / 13.0 CV / 0.4% > 30 (App)
18.0 AFD / 3.2 SD / 17.9 CV / 0.9% > 30 (Chev)
18.8 AFD / 3.0 SD / 16.0 CV / 0.3% > 30 (Ava)
This combination of fineness and uniformity is remarkable. We can't wait to meet the next crop!

This is THE guy we have picked to match with our Avatar girls.
We chose Toledo from Magical Farms' crop of weanlings in 2003, and since then I've had so much fun watching him show exceptionally well with the best of the best grays in the country. He was awarded the Blue and then nearly chosen for Reserve Champion at a level 5 show judged by Julio Sumar in 2005. In 2006 Mike Safley commented very enthusiastically about his fleece to his handler at a level 5 show, awarding him a second place ribbon, the first place going to Crescent Moon's ATV Adonnis - one of the most successfully shown gray males in the country. At the same show Toledo was awarded First place and Color Champion Gray fleece in the fleece show.
Toledo is jointly owned with our friends, Lynda and Ken Maul, and their partner Christa Cushman, all of Dolores Colorado.
Toledo is very typey with a gorgeous head and a perfect bite. His fleece has even improved with every passing year. The picture of his fleece above is from 2007 - that high frequency high luster crimp just won't quit. And the Density! Wow! He has 6 cria on the ground now, the first is a bay black male from a fawn dam. This cria has excellent conformation - super typey - and wonderful dense soft fleece full of character at just 6 months.
The second is a bay black female beauty that was awarded a second place at her only showing so far, Jude said she missed first "by a whisker". His 3rd cria a the rose gray boy, Deveron. Deveron was awarded a Blue ribbon at SWRAS. Toledo's 4th and 5th crias are a fawn and silver gray girls. His 6th cria is Speyburn Shadow - a fawn or indefinite light boy with an absolutely breathtaking fleece. Speyburn is just now old enough to show - we are excited!
We are on pins and needles awaiting Toledo's crop this year - and can you imagine him bred to our Avatar girls? We can! ;^
